We are now into our 4th and final week of the drive. We left Enid, OK around 8am and headed the cattle toward Kansas. The day was pretty well uneventful. We stopped for the night at Kremlin, Ok and some of us took a little side trip to the actual site of the Ole Chisholm Trail, and stood on the actual ground that wagons rolled over and thousands of cattle traveled over a hundred plus years ago. It was a hoot to actually stand on the same ground.
Today we will make our second river crossing of the trip thru the Salt For River. We are expecting great weather and no trouble . Most of the wagons will cross with us this time also.
We are all getting a little sad now because we realize the drive will be over in a few days and we all are going to head back home to our familys, but we take with us the knowledge that we did something that hasn't been done in over 100 years and maybe will never be repeated again at least in our lifetime, and also helped to preserve the history of Jesse Chisholm and the Chisholm trail for future generations to learn about.
It's been a hoot folks!!
